Samsung is gearing up to bring its advanced AI capabilities from the Galaxy S24 lineup to older Galaxy smartphones, offering users an enhanced experience beyond their original specifications.
Among the eligible devices slated to receive the Galaxy S24’s AI enhancements are the Galaxy S23 series, including the S23 FE, as well as the Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S9. This move proves Samsung’s commitment to delivering innovative technology to their wider user base.
This premonition was inferred from a recent update to the Samsung On-Device Resource app, now available on the Galaxy Store. Traditionally used for on-device processing tasks like speech-to-text conversion in Bixby and voice typing in Samsung Keyboard, the app has evolved to support the latest AI features introduced with the Galaxy S24 series.
Key features such as Interpreter, Live Translate in calls, and voice recording transcription are now enabled through on-device processing, a capability previously exclusive to the Galaxy S24 lineup. With this update, older flagship models like the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy S23 are inching closer to receiving the anticipated One UI 6.1 update.
The exact rollout strategy for integrating the Galaxy S24’s AI features into older devices remains uncertain. It’s yet to be determined whether Samsung will include these enhancements as part of the One UI 6.1 update or deliver them separately.
