WePad Complete Specs and Priced

Wrote down a side by side comparison on the German-born WePad and the Apple iPad. What was lacking then was the release price and now we got the confirmation and the complete specs.

In an official announcement today, the WePad will come in two flavors and will be priced competitively against the iPad.

WePad
11.6″ display screen @ 1366×768 pixels
Intel Atom N450 1.66GHz
16GB Flahs Drive
WiFi 802.11 b/g
Bluetooth 2.1
2 x USB ports
1.3MP webcam
Card Reader

The WePad also runs a modified Android OS. The Li-Ion battery can go up to 6 hours and the device supports Flash and Adobe Air. The retail price is $611 for the basic model. If you upgrade to 32GB with 3G and GPS, the rpcie goes up to $774.

Pre-orders starts on April 27 but will be limited in Germany only. Global release won’t happen until August.

  1. I want one!

  2. Mas maganda ba ang wepad sa ipad? I was about to purchase an ipad here but a computer expert suggests that I’ll just wait for the next generation

  3. please feature Windows phone Kin One and Kin Two =)

  4. @Icy – Specs wise, WePad is better than an iPad in many ways, such as the former having USB ports, a card reader etc.

Impressive, but I was hoping that it would have longer battery life. If I were to choose between iPad and this one, of course I’d go for thiss WePad.

  5. Nice brand but I think all these slate/tablet that are coming are all riding the Apple Ipad wave!!!

btw… I notice that some of my comments are suddenly disappearing… :(

  6. better than ipad on the following terms:

    -Flash support
    -not being chained to iTunes
    -Webcam
    -card reader
    -not Apple (read: expensive accessories)

Hopefully given it runs Intel Atom, it can support other OS (but sticking with the default OS would be a better choice due to the low flash disk space)

  7. I’ll hold off for a couple years until more devices have come out, prices have become more affordable for the common man, and network coverage has improved in the country.

But it’s nice to see that the iPad has seen its first competition.

  8. interesting, interesting. can’t wait for the next “-pads” that will come up next. more choices, yey. i have become addicted surfing on my iphone but getting dissatisfied with the screen size and itunes suck. i think these “-pads” will be the perfect replacement to my netbook, since i rarely use my hp mini now and i usually just browse, read blogs and view pictures on the net. ahhh, the convenience of touch-touch.

  9. we also need to consider the apps running on Android. yes they are there but it’s hard to know which ones are safe and not without having a single repository like the App Store.

  10. Am loving FLASH at this device. :)
