Woof Portable iPod Speakers

This Woof speakers is yet another one of those accessories dedicated to the growing market of iPod owners in the Philippines. Unlike the usual form factors we’ve seen with the Hamburger speakers and the X-Mini, this one is a bit different. Check out the photos and my quick review after the jump.

Yup, more like squarish, just so it fits the same form factor of iPods when attached to it.

The speaker has an output power of 1.7 watts but it’s loud enough for its size (50g). It has the proprietary Apple USB connector that you can attach to a Nano, iPod Classic and iPod Touch. When you plug it in an iPhone 3G, you get a pop up alert that it does not support the device but it still plays music just the same. This port also allows the device to share power from the iPod when it’s already drained.

At the back side, you get the switch and the volume controls as well as the collapsible diaphragms which mimics the resonance of a subwoofer so you get a nice solid sound quality. The diaphragm can be collapsed and twisted shut when the speaker is not in use. It has a built-in battery that can be charged via USB. For other music players or phoens with 3.5” jack, a retractable cable is also provided.

Woof is available in local iPod accessory stores (like PowerMac) for a suggested retail price of Php1,500USD 26INR 2,167EUR 24CNY 186.
