Huawei Philippines launched the Watch GT 2 in the Philippines last week. It’s an improved version of the original Watch GT and also the first one to sport a custom Kirin A1 chip.
There are several new features and improvements with the Watch GT2, both internally and externally. It comes in two case sizes: 46mm and 42mm, and in three editions: Sport, Classic, and Elite.
The 46mm is designed for men, while the 42mm is for women. What we have here is the 46mm Sport Edition, and as the name suggests, looks sporty and rugged. If you like running or going to the gym, this one will fit you.
It sports a 1.39-inch AMOLED touchscreen with a 454 x 454 resolution. It looks sharp with punchy colors, and also bright enough for outdoor use. The 3D glass also covers the front, all the way to the edges of the tachymeter.
For the watch case, it is made of stainless steel with metallic buttons on the right side. The bottom is made of plastic and houses the sensors, along with the microphone and loudspeaker.
For the replaceable strap, it’s made of fluoroelastomer, which feels soft and smooth and should fit most wrist sizes. Although large, the Watch GT 2 feels light and comfortable, so it won’t impede any of your physical activity.
The Watch GT 2 comes with plenty of sensors: accelerometer, gyroscope, geomagnetic, optical heart rate, ambient, capacitive, and air pressure. It also has GPS and Bluetooth 5.1 with support for BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy), and BR/EDR (Bluetooth Basic Rate/ Enhanced Data Rate).
For features, there’s workout-tracking, heart rate monitoring, activity tracking, sleep, and stress monitoring, breathing exercises, music controls, Air pressure, compass, weather, notifications, timer, alarm, flashlight, and Find My Phone. Do note that you’ll need the Huawei Health app to enable you to take advantage of the mentioned features. If you want to download new watch faces, you may also do it within the app.
On the inside, the Kirin A1 chip and custom OS of the Watch GT 2 are the main reasons for the impressive battery life of about two weeks. Since we first got the unit about ten days ago, we have not charged it and still have 27% battery life remaining. Charging is easy as well as it comes with a wireless charger with a USB Type-C port.
The Huawei Watch GT 2 is now available in Huawei stores as well as Lazada and Shopee. Check out the prices below:
