Koala Philippines recently sent us the Koala Fuzion Smartwatch. It’s a stylish and premium-looking wearable with a 1.3-inch IPS touch screen, call and SMS function, and fitness tracking capabilities such as heart rate and activity monitoring. It also comes at a lower price compared to popular smartwatches in the market. So, if you’re looking for a budget smartwatch, check our hands-on below.
The package we received came with a nice box that contains the Koala Fuzion Smartwatch, manual, charger, a screwdriver for adjusting the strap, and a warranty card.
The box alone is good enough to store the watch when not in use, but Koala Philippines is also offering a Koala Smart Watch Case for PHP 349, which is more suited when you’re traveling.
The Fuzion Smartwatch we received has the Rose Gold color, but it is also available in Raw Steel, and Jazz Black. It is mostly metal, including the chassis and the adjustable strap. Placed on the right of the smartwatch is the power/lock button.
The display quality is not going to impress. Again, it has IPS so you won’t get deep blacks, and has a low 240 x 240 resolution. Still, it’s enough for casual users.
Only the bottom part is plastic. From here, you can see the sensors, speaker, microphone, and the metal contacts for the magnetic pogo pin charger. It has an IP67 rating so that it can survive water immersion of up to 1 meter for 30 minutes.
Setting up is quite simple. From your smartphone, you’ll need to download the FunDo app first, which is available on Google Play and iOS. Once downloaded, you have to switch on Bluetooth on both devices, and from the FunDo app, tap on More then tap on Add device, then pair the Fuzion smartwatch.
The app is for fitness tracking and managing your notifications. Most of the customization and features are accessible through the watch itself. If you want to change watch faces, you can go to Settings and choose from six options. You can’t download other watch faces, so that’s a bit of a bummer.
When it comes to features, it has Call and SMS functions, voice command support, music playback controls for Spotify or default music player, heart rate monitoring, sleep detection, task reminder, and alarm clock. It also has activity tracking for walking, running, hiking, biking, and other sports.
When it comes to battery, it has a 300mAh capacity which Koala PH claims to last for 2 to 3 days before it needs to be charged. Charging using the magnetic pogo pin takes about 2 hours.
The Koala Fuzion Smartwatch looks like a promising smartwatch for the price. It won’t impress you when it comes to features, but it looks premium and is priced lower compared to other popular smartwatches. It is priced at PHP 5,790 and can be purchased at Koala PH’s website here. You can also visit their Facebook page here.
