Found this site via Digg just now. Basically, it’s a rip-off of YouTube at the same time leeching off YouTube’s bandwidth.
The catch? Videos are played on the site with YouTube embed code and 50% of the ad revenue is paid to the people that submit the videos using Google Adsense.
Sounds like a nice idea eh? But will YouTube allow this? Nah!
If you read the fine print over at the YouTube TOS Section 5F:
“YouTube permits you to link to materials on the Website for personal, non-commercial purposes only. In addition, YouTube provides an “Embeddable Player” feature which you may incorporate into your own personal, non-commercial website for use in accessing the materials on the Website, provided that you include a prominent link back to the YouTube website on the pages containing the Embeddable Player.”
So, there goes the business model down the drain.
anything is always possible, provided the initial cost outlay is low. Once the money rolls in, profits must be sustained for it to stay afloat. Have we not see tons of dotcoms go bust?
I already owned YougleTube.com!! hahaha it is worth 1B Php i’ll probably make money outsourcing and producing 60secs. video of your company promo, wedding, birthday, graduations etc…
With the Google purchase of Youtube, this is DOA.
metacafe has its own version of “share your video, earn some money” gimmick. see it here http://www.metacafe.com/producer_rewards/
I hope Google or YouTube wouldn’t trademark *Tube because there’s also another site called xtube that has the same model (doesn’t look like YouTube) only it’s for NSFW content.
