My favorite startpage, Netvibes, has just upgraded its service to the new Ginger platform. This practically adds a ton of new social networking features to the personalized startpage and opens it up to the public.
The upgrade includes some new set of widgets which you can share, add Netvibes users as friends/followers, switching tabs/items between your public Universe page and your personal Private page, Activitivity tracking as well as the Netvibes Wall which is just like Twitter but with a 1,000-character limit.
Although the interface is almost the same as the old one (except for the page drop down menu), it might take some getting used to switching between the private and the public page. You don’t want to make that mistake of putting up private information out into the public page.
My public Universe can be found here; will try to post and share some useful information there. If you’re not using Netvibes yet, here are 5 things that might convince you to get one (and did I mention that Netvibes works really nice on your mobile phone and on the iPhone?).
Finally. But Ginger is still wobbly, it still doesn’t save my activity that well
