Smart is said to be the first in the Philippines to get a Partner Badge from FourSquare. The exclusive badge, the Smart Live More, will make its debut during the Lady Gaga Concert at the SM Mall of Asia Arena tonight and tomorrow.
Customized FourSquare badges are rare and the company charges a minimum of $25,000 a month for its use (there’s a 3-month commitment). If that is the case, Smart may have paid at least $75,000 just to get this Live More badge (around Php3.15 million).
FourSquare users will be able to check-in at the Lady Gaga concert starting from 6pm to 2am the following day. Fortunately, anyone from anywhere can still check-in and actually get the badge once it reaches the SuperSwarm or 250 check-ins (jumpers are referred to FourSquare users that check-in to places despite not being present in those locations).
The Php3.15 million investment for a custom FourSquare badge is the first time we’ve heard a local entity has made and its a pretty expensive badge if we may say so. According to reports from ClickZ and Mashable, FourSquare has increased their paid badges from $10,000 a month in 2011 to $25,000 a month.
According to FourSquare “Partner Badges are the only offering that have a fee attached. Badge ideas are first subject to our product team’s approval to ensure that the campaign makes sense for your brand and ours, that this is a behavior that is unique and hasn’t yet been rewarded within foursquare already, and that there is a cohesive story and unlock requirements.”
If a badge concept is approved, it usually take 6-8 weeks from that point until the campaign is ready to be launched.
FourSquare offers up to 5 custom badges inclusive of this rate so we might see more badges from Smart in the coming months.

As usual. Puro marketing lang ang Smart without improving their services.
Mint says:
Haha I knew it, Smart won’t dump $75K for just a badge. :P

abe your figures are way off man. :) who is your source.
Jim Ayson says:
We worked on the badge project thru a partnership with Foursquare – the bottom line is no “dumping” of $75K was involved . :)

Got it from Mashable and ClickZ.

3.15 Million Pesos worth of kinain na load. All networks, not just Smart, should use their profit first on improving their services/discounts on rates before using it on useless things like this that will not satisfy the majority of its customers.
