Most of you might have only heard of WordPress 2.0.7 before WP 2.1 was finally released with major upgrades (500+ bug fixes!).
However, upgrading to WordPress 2.1 might only introduce more tragic problems with your blog, especially if you’re using tag clouds or tags as categories. We lost that nice plugin functionality over at Pinoy Travel Blog a while ago and that’s the reason I haven’t upgraded PinoyBlog to 2.1 as well.
If you’ve dug a little deeper in WordPress.org, you might have encountered this page — Download Release Archive. It’s an archive of all up-to-date WP releases on record. You’ll notice that versions 2.0.8 and 2.0.9 are listed there although there hasn’t been any announcement of them. These are basically versions that were released post-WP 2.1 and would have already had the bug fixes included in the latest version minus the structural upgrades of the latter.
You will also notice there’s already WordPress 2.1.1 too. ;)
oo nga eh andaming bugs nung 2.1, kagabi kolang nabasa sa WP na may 2.1.1 hayyy magssimuila plang ako sa WP prang angdaming problems
@ Jaypee
Yeah, 2.0.9 seems to be working just fine. Have to find a compatible tag cloud plugin so we can move to 2.1.
@ joseph
Nope, haven’t heard about it before. Looks like European Commission sponsored it.
@ selboy
WP 2.1 is supposed to be faster with mySQL caching. You have WP Cache installed as well? That could really help.
Yugs, maari bang ang wordpress 2.1 and dahilan ng pagtaas bigla ng CPU usage ng account ko at ploghost?
post ko na lang po dito para malaman din ng iba ang tungkol dito…..
kaya pala ang nahirapan akong mag-upgrade. btw, I saw in the joomla homepage about the foss seminar on march. know something about it, yuga?
So that’s why Pinoyblog looked different when I logged in earlier. I just found out now that it’s powered by WP 2.0.9 :)
very informative post… i thought it was 2.0.7 then 2.1…
