This is the first time I was able to install and try Yahoo! Go 2.0 on my WM5 phone. Earlier, I thought they didn’t support Samsung smartphones but after checking it out on my friend’s N95, I tried again. All I can say is it rocks!
Here are some of the stuff you’re missing out if you haven’t tried Yahoo! Go yet:
1) The Yahoo! Mail client. Access your email email right away using a much nicer mobile interface. If GMail for mobile is simple and elegant, this one has flare. It doesn’t have the keypad shortcuts that GMail has though.
2) If you’ve tried Flickr Mobile, then you’ll be glad Yahoo! Go has a Flickr client too. Slick interface and optimized for full screen viewing of Flickr photos. The built-in photo uploader tops it all.
3) News widget. Get to read the local news from ABS-CBN, Inquirer and others via the RSS reader. You can add your own blogs too but putting them in the watch list. Now, that’s another reason to convince bloggers to deliver full feeds.
4) Weather widget. But hey, who checks the weather nowadays? Still, it’s nice to know you can pull up that data especially when you’re traveling around the country often.
The nice thing about Yahoo! Go is that you can set your profile or settings so that the default content is suited to your geographic location. If they could add an offline blogging client (somewhat similar to Ecto). Hopefully, they’d integrate all the other Yahoo! properties in the future too — MyBlogLog, del.icio.us, Yahoo! and Answers.

Abe Olandres says:
Yeah, I don’t think they’d do that anytime soon. The mobile to PC SMS via Yahoo! Messenger costs Php2.50 which is shared between Yahoo and the telcos. I’m sure that contract will not be severed for the benefit of both parties.
Dusty says:
It seems that either Yahoo has given up on the Mobile Instant Messenger or maybe they are just packaging this to be more telco friendly since telco’s are still allergic to Mobile IM :P
(They’re still trying to push per message charging for IM) lolz

Just imagine the hundreds of pesos you will need just to load your Yahoo! mail if you’re on Globe… oh wait.. Globe’s prepaid APN is not capable of loading those… :~)

Well, in a country where temparature ranges from 8 degrees celcius in the winter to 55 degrees in the summer, we often keep track of the weather. For people here in the middle east, like here in Qatar, this widget can be very useful. :)

Yahoo Go rocks. It’s actually up and running when i got my new N95, but I’m based in the UK though.

hinde ba mabagal? I hope they add the feature of customizing the widgets. Like if I don’t need finance or weather I could remove it so it wont be as bloated as it is.
One thing I like about this though is ability to upload to flickr. I guess that way you don’t have to connect your phone to the PC to upload some pictures. Haven’t tried it yet though.
