Yep! YugaTech is starting to become cryptocurrency-friendly as it has announced its plans to pay its editors partly in Bitcoin. Probably one of the first in the country to make such move.
Cryptocurrency, like Bitcoin, is increasingly popular yet highly controversial because of its high volatility and security issues. The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas has even issued an advisory about its risks.
Still, it hasn’t stopped YugaTech for accepting this platform as a way of rewarding its full-time and part-time editors. Dubbed internally as ‘Yugacoin‘, it will soon become part of the editors’ yearly bonus in addition to other bonuses and incentives.
At the time of writing, the buy/sell exchange rate of Bitcoin at BuyBitcoin.ph is at Php21,460.30/Php19,427.71.
YugaTech.com’s founder and Editor-in-Chief, Abe Olandres, is currently off-the-grid for comment. Some say he is holed up in his garage somewhere in BGC with Team Tech Squad building a mining rig (Mark 1) that costs more than half a mil.
