Manila Mayor Isko is in talks with representatives of Starlink, a satellite broadband internet system owned by Elon Musk, in order to provide internet via low-earth orbit satellites (LEOSATs).
According to a post on PTV’s Facebook Page, Mayor Isko Moreno will be purchasing about 1,000 dishes for faster and more reliable internet service in public schools, universities, police stations, and hospitals in the city.
LEOSATs are able to provide internet speeds of up to 110mbps for common households and 500mbps for enterprises but in terms of cost, it would set back around USD 500.
